Intro to Violin
This is an introductory group class for beginning violin/viola students that meets biweekly for 4 weeks (8 sessions total) in Summer 2024. We cover the basics for posture and set-up for both hands and learn Pre-Twinkle songs by rote using a Suzuki-based approach.
Please read About the Suzuki Method and watch the video provided. At the end of this introductory class, students may continue in private lessons.
Classes will be held at 16080 NW 208th Way, High Springs, FL 32643 in a small group of 2-4 children. We will begin with a box violin and dowel bow for the first two weeks and then use a real instrument for the second two weeks.

August 5-16: Sessions with real instruments
Instrument Information: When ready to progress to the instrument, it is important to obtain a good quality instrument that works well. The cheap starter violins sold on Amazon or eBay from China usually are not playable. I would recommend a rental instrument so that students can size up as they grow. Most shops will apply monthly payments towards the purchase price of a full-sized instrument.
